Look, I sewed!

All of my kiddos have an attachment to one special blanket.  The girls both have ones made by Grandma Mitzi, which of course carries extra meaning to them now.  Tyler doesn't have a homemade one, but is still head over heels for his Aden & Anais Dream Blanket that I bought before he was born.  They all insist on having them in their beds every night and taking them with us when we go out of town or when they sleep over at Grandma and Grandpa's.

When my super-talented friend Elice offered to help me sew a blanket for our new little boy, I was super excited (and a little nervous.)  I hadn't touched a sewing machine since high school!  I know it shouldn't be all that intimidating since it's basically sewing straight lines and tying yarn, but I still wouldn't be brave enough to try it alone!
I had a hard time finding a fabric that I loved (I was hoping to find something that would coordinate with their room) and the ones I picked are a little more babyish than I had wanted... but I still think it turned out pretty cute!  And it only took us a 2 1/2 hours to do (and that included getting a little distracted with girl talk.)

It's already washed and ready to go... I love how soft and cozy it is!  Seriously can't wait to see our sweet baby all snuggled up in his present from mama. The official countdown is 10 days by the way... if I make it that long!  When I saw my dr. last week I was shocked when she told me that I was dilated to a 3 and effaced at 60%.  I went into the hospital at a centimeter/1 with all of my other three so I had completely expected to be the same with this one.  The baby also had a pretty big growth spurt and has dropped seriously low.  It has definitely made the last week rougher than I'm used to... I was never this uncomfortable or in this much pain with the the other three. (In fact, we were working on the home addition until midnight before Tyler was born and with Kaylee I cleaned my house and did laundry for the first 6 hours of my labor!)  I suppose it's only fair though - not counting the first trimester when morning sickness ruled my days, this baby has given me a breeze of a pregnancy.  And I know every second of lost sleep (I'm averaging 3-4 hours these days) will be worth it when I hold him in my arms for the first time!   Almost there baby boy, almost there.
(P.S. Can you tell that I took this picture in our new laundry room?? It's finished!! Just waiting to accessorize and then I'll share the after photos! I'm. In. Love.)
