After waking up in Monterey, we took the scenic drive down the coast. Why didn't anyone tell me just how beautiful it is?? I tell you, I am definitely an Idaho girl at heart, but if I won the lottery (low odds since I never play) I might just have to buy me one of those cute little cottages right off the beach. (Though I'm still trying to figure out those houses built into the cliffs... how do those people not have nightmares of tumbling into the ocean?)
We also attempted to take a hike to see the waterfall in Big Sur but it was too foggy to see much of anything. The girls didn't seem to mind though, I think they were just happy to stretch their legs! They are such good little travelers.
On our way to Anaheim, we stopped in Santa Barbara and had dinner on the pier. By that point we were a bit on seafood-overload so opted for cheeseburgers and fries. Is there some unwritten law about dining over the ocean and not eating something that came out of it? At least they were good burgers. :-)
