Since Kaylee is the last of four friend birthdays in June, she had lots of time to ponder the idea of turning 4 - and she was NOT very excited about it! In fact, about a week ago, she decided to measure herself on her little butterfly growth chart and ran out of her room in tears,
"Mommy, Mommy, I'm not little anymore! I don't want to get big! I want to stay 3 forever!"
(Me too, sweet girl, me too!)
Turning 4 suddenly became a little less scary when she realized a fun party was involved. At first, she begged for a beach party (apparently she did not get enough in San Diego!) I tried to tell her that we lived too far away from the beach to have a party there to which she replied -"that's okay Mommy - we'll just pick up all my friends and bring them there!" Luckily I was able to talk her into a "Summer Fun" party instead. Kaylee got to invite 6 friends (I was attempting my first drop off party!) They were so cute... and seemed to have lots of fun! (We missed you Ava!)

We started off with a few summer staples... Bubbles, Sidewalk Chalk, and Water Fun...
Oh, and Grandma and Grandpa's bounce house (their best purchase EVER!)
Then it was on to some Summer Eats...

A Water Balloon Toss...

(Afterwards I told them we were going to play another game - to see how many of the water balloons they could find in the grass and get into my bag. No kidding - I think they enjoyed this more than the actual water balloons! It was hilarious. And I guess it didn't hurt that I bribed them with a surprise treat - old school "Twin Pops"
Mmm)

Kaylee was having so much fun that when it was time to open presents, she refused! Seriously, what kids refuses presents?? Of course this all changed when she got started and realized how much fun stuff was waiting for her. Thank you everyone for the wonderful gifts!!

Then it was time for Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes!

(Super easy to make - just stand cones up in a muffin pan and fill 2/3 full with batter... cook and frost like normal!) I also have the BEST
buttercream frosting recipe a la my friend Lori... let me know if you want a copy!

(This picture was taken about 3 seconds before Josh stepped onto the patio and half the cupcakes toppled over - luckily I had extra!)

Of course, no party is complete without party favors! To keep with the "Summer Fun" theme, we filled sand buckets with cute little sunglasses, flower hair clips, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, and of course... lots of sugar!
A couple hours after the party, Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Mandi joined us for Kaylee's
bday dinner. And then it was on to gifts from Mommy and Daddy (including a princess scooter she's been begging us for for months.) She had a busy and fun-filled day!

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR MAKING HER BIRTHDAY SO SPECIAL!!
