Happy Birthday Sweet Kaylee!
You seem like such a big girl these days. It makes me a little bit sad, and very proud. I'm sure I'll be saying this for the rest of your life, but it feels like such a short time ago when you were little enough to fit in my hands. I still remember that first ride home from the hospital - we didn't have a baby mirror set up yet, so I would turn around every couple minutes to look back at you and make sure you were still breathing. You slept in my arms almost your whole first year. You were so little, so fragile - so dependent on me. And now here you are, growing more and more independent each day - much more like a little girl and less like a toddler. Thankfully, you still want to be right by my side every minute. I have a feeling that will change some day and I'll be wishing you were 4 again!
So what were you like at age 4? Well, you love to talk. A lot. Whether it's the grocery check-out line or a neighbor walking by - you are always ready to strike up a conversation. It usually goes a little something like this, "Hi! My name is Kaylee. I just turned 4 last day. And this is my little sister Jadyn. She's 1. But she's not very big yet so she can't really talk like me. But someday she'll be big too. My friends Anna and Ava and Lianne and Kaylynn are big like me. And we like to play. And sometimes we like to play dinosaurs or dressup. I have a Snow White dress. And I just got a Tinkerbell dress for my birthday too...."
You are also FULL of energy. You always like to be busy (must get that from your Mommy!) and could run all day long and never get tired. But, you also love to sit and color, read, and write your letters. You also love the alphabet games on the computer. Learning is one of your favorite things to do! You have been begging me for a year to learn to read and are getting so close. Your favorite book to read is "Jog, Frog, Jog." You can probably recite it without even looking at the words. Every night we read a story and you ask for a glass of milk. You always want lots of hugs and kisses and "I love you's" before you go to sleep. You love to snuggle.
Most of your day is spent playing with your little sister. She follows you around and likes to say and do everything just like her sissy. Lately, the two of you have been playing with your princesses and using Mommy and Daddy's bed as a "mountain" to go "camping." If there is music on, you're both dancing around the living room and trying to sing along.
You can be a little feisty at times, but have such a sweet heart. You are so thankful for everything you have (the other day I said something to Daddy about wishing you had a bigger room and you said, "Mommy, I don't want a bigger room, I love it just the way it is!) and care so much for your family. You desperately want a baby brother. You can't wait for Jadyn to be big enough to have "sleepovers" and keep offering to share your room with her. You tell us every day that you love us and that we are a good Mommy and Daddy... and how much you love your life. (Could a mom ever hear anything better?)
There are so many times that I look at you and think how lucky I am to be your mother. I hope you know just how much I love you and what a beautiful blessing you are to my life!
Love,
Mommy
