I had a feeling that a weekend getaway in the midst of our craziness was probably not the brightest idea. But, I knew we needed a little break from all the stress and was looking forward to some fun with my family. We rented a cabin in Garden Valley and planned for some good times eating, playing games, and enjoying the snow. That was the plan at least. :-)

I'm sure the drive up there really isn't so bad when you're not 34 weeks pregnant with a baby boy who has decided to take up residency in a ridiculously low section of your 25-pound belly. But just a little after Horseshoe Bend, I noticed my contractions getting really close together (about every 5 minutes) and STRONG. And I felt sick - really, really sick. Josh tried to convince me to turn back and go home. But in my head I was thinking we were only 30 minutes to the cabin - plus, I had my homemade lasagna in a cooler in the back for the next night's dinner. I made up my mind -we were going on. The drive took another hour, and the contractions just got stronger - and I got sicker. By the time we got up there I pretty much collapsed into bed. It was then that we figured out that the closest hospital was in Boise and only had the home phone number of the local doctor, who didn't answer. I think I was probably less stressed than my husband and family... I knew this little boy wasn't coming - all I wanted was for the stupid contractions to STOP already! We did get ahold of the on-call Dr. for my OB practice (the same one who ended up delivering Kaylee when Dr. Minge was out of town) who thankfully calmed everyone down and said that since both girls were on time, we'd probably be okay as long as the contractions didn't get any worse. He instructed me to drink lots of water and lay on my side until we got the contractions under control. Thankfully that worked. (SO did not want to take a 90 minute ambulance ride back to Boise or deliver baby Tyler on the cabin floor!)

By the next morning, I was feeling lots better - so it was time for some fun! We headed out to the golf course for sledding... the kids were so excited to finally have some snow to play in!

(Can you tell it was REALLY bright outside??)

(Leave it to my brother to start a snowball fight)

(Couldn't quite get the snowbibs to zip up with all that belly!)

(We obviously wore out the kids... my niece Shaina found Jadyn asleep on her sled after her last trip down!)

Despite the craziness of the first night - it was nice to get away and spend some time with my family. I'm looking forward to doing it again next year without the baby drama! :-)
