When my cousin Stephanie asked Kaylee and Jaydn to be the flower girls in her wedding this month, they were beyond excited. Princess dresses, white baskets, flower petals, and 100 people basking in their cuteness?? What's not a girl to love??
The week of the wedding, Kaylee would practice walking down the aisle in our living room -skipping on her tippy toes as she flung her imaginary petals into the air in the most dramatic fashion. She also named the doll that my cousin Elizabeth sent her (from her own childhood) "Wedding Rose" and sleeps with her every night. Jadyn was equally excited, even if she didn't fully understand what a "wedding girl" was supposed to do.
A few days before the wedding, Stephanie and John gave the girls adorable "flower girl" tank tops to wear at the rehearsal. The girls couldn't wait to show them off!
And I must admit, they were pretty darn cute in them!
After the girls made it up the aisle, they were supposed to stand with the bridesmaids until the ceremony was over and follow the bride back out. They did pretty well with this at first, but after the second run-through, they started getting a little antsy. (Notice them swinging the baskets around their arms.)
About half way through, Jadyn started wandering away. Trying to help, one of the bridesmaids told her to come back and that she was supposed to stay in line. Thinking she was in trouble, Jadyn got the saddest look on her face and her eyes filled up with tears. With her head down and lower lip out, she walked back to line and was quietly sobbing. If you've ever seen this face in person, you know it can seriously breaks some hearts! Luckily big sister was there to console her.
And by the time they were supposed to head back down the aisle, she was all smiles again.
I can't wait to see my sweet little girls in their pretty white dresses tomorrow... I'm curious to see how they'll do with all eyes on them! :-)
