La Grande Visit

This weekend we drove up to La Grande to visit my Aunt Patty and Uncle Robert... two of my most favorite people! We were so excited to see their new house (it's gorgeous!) and visit with them. Kaylee adores both of them and of course relishes in the fact that they dote over her so much! My cousin Steph is home from college for the summer so we got to see her too. Kaylee also loved playing with their two dogs... playing catch with them never got old.

On Sunday, we drove up to a little town called Joseph, which is an hour and half away. It is the cutest little town... kinda reminded us of Jacksonhole. We ate at a little restaurant called Mountain Air Cafe, which had the BEST burgers!

After lunch, we headed up to Wallowa Lake, which is also beautiful! We took the tramway (one of the steepest in North America) up to the Mt. Howard summit. It's a 3700 foot ascent, which wasn't quite as scary as I thought it would be (although my heart stopped just a little at each bump) and has a gorgeous view from the top.

You can't really tell from the pictures, but supposedly, from the summit outlook you can see into the states of Washington, Idaho, and even across the northern panhandle of Idaho into Montana. It was quite amazing!

Kaylee was much more interested in making some little friends... there were hundreds of squirrels/chipmunks that literally ate right out of her hand! She also got a couple feet away from a deer but she scared it away with all her excitement. She went through nearly an entire bag of seed and got a kick out of how full the chipmunks would stuff their cheeks. One in particular seemed to really be a fan of the food and ended up looking like he had golf balls in his mouth by the time she was done!

Jadyn loved watching the little guys too (made her giggle every time they made a little squeak) but kept trying to put the seeds in her own mouth instead, so we decided she was better off observing.
Before heading out of town on Monday, my uncle took us out to this adorable park - Kaylee thought it looked like a castle! (If you look close enough you'll see Kaylee waving from the middle tower.)

Daddy even let her test out the big girl swings, which she loved until she lost her grip and fell flat on her back! I think she might opt for the baby swing a little longer.

It was such a fun weekend and we can't wait to go again. The whole way home Josh kept talking about how he is ready to move to a small town. Hopefully he'll be content just visiting! :-)

Just a couple side notes: Jadyn is walking around like crazy now! Occasionally her little feet don't seem to keep up with her, which has resulted in a few face plants... but this hasn't seemed to stop her from practically sprinting across the floor. She is the cutest little walker! Kaylee went all weekend without an accident which really suprised us because of all the excitement and car rides. Well, technically, she did have one - but it was really my fault so I didn't count it. She has also picked up the new phrase "I think" (sounds a little more like "I sink") which she uses at the end of every sentence. It's really quite hillarious, I think.

Aunt Patty and Uncle Robert had more fun than Kaylee and Jadyn.

The picture of Jadyn in the highchair is great. I can't believe that Kaylee was letting those chipmunks get so close to her. I think my kids would both get too scared.

What a fun weekend! YOur pics are adorable. I can't believe little Jaydn is cruising around on her feet now! Kendal is getting close, she tried taking her first step a couple days ago... did not go so hot!
Also, I love/wonder where our girls pick up these phrases. I think it is probably more from us than we realize, I think. :) Amaya's new one of "of course."
Ah... kids.
You and your husband look pretty darn good together.
