The Ronald McDonald House

Over the last year, I've been in charge of the community service project for my MOMS Club since I was VP. We did a lot of fun projects (school supply drive, Thanksgiving dinner for a needy family, Adopt-A-Family at Christmas, "Mini Olympics" for the Boys and Girls Club) but my favorite was probably making no-sew fleece blankets for the Ronald McDonald House. A bunch of us got together on one of our Moms Night Out Game Nights to make them. We ended up with 25 all together! Nothing like getting to have some girl time while doing some good at the same time!
Well, today my friend Debbie (our president) and I took them down today and delivered them. The staff was super excited! The girl in charge of volunteer work said that when the kids leave the House, they like to send them home with a little something to remember their time by... and the blankets are always their favorite! I'm so excited to have been able to make a difference... as small as it may be!

After I got home, I couldn't help but think of all those kids and families that stay there. As I'm sure you all know the Ronald McDonald house Ronald McDonald House provides a home away from home for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals. Having healthy children is something that is so easily taken for granted. When you think about those families who have to worry about keeping their children alive... it just makes everything else (discipline, potty training, preschools, etc) seem so small.
