Beauty and the Beast

After having such a fun trip, we knew we needed to end it with something good. When we heard that the PlayMill in West Yellowstone was featuring Beauty and the Beast, we couldn't wait to take our girls to see it. (They love anything and everything princess and this one just happens to be one of their favorites!) Josh called in the morning to get tickets only to find out that they were sold out. We drove to West hoping to get lucky at the box office, but only two tickets were available. So, we enjoyed some pizza for lunch and drove two very sad girls back to the cabin. A couple hours later we got a phone call from the PlayMill saying they had some cancellations for the 8:30 show, so we jumped in the car and drove back. And it was so, so worth it!

Josh and I were both pleasantly surprised by the production. Not only were the cast and props wonderful, but they did a great job of mixing the songs and script from the Disney movie (the girls were singing along with every scene!) but a few new things to keep it interesting. My normally very rambunctious girls were completely enthralled for the entire two hours and LOVED every minute of it. In fact, at intermission, the couple sitting behind us came up and asked "How do you get your kids to be so quiet? We didn't even know they were there! What good kids!" We had to laugh just a little... quiet is not usually an adjective we hear when describing our little munchkins.

One of my favorite memories of the night was during the fight scene between Gaston and the Beast. Kaylee was sitting at the edge of her seat watching intensely and when the Beast finally knocked Gaston down she jumped up, threw her little arm in the air and yelled "yeah!!" The whole audience (including the grumpy old man next to us) was rolling in laughter.

After the show was over, we hung back for a few minutes so the girls could meet the cast. Of course Belle was at the top of their list. They seemed in awe of her and her pretty yellow dress.

We walked them down the rest of the line and all the cast seemed smitten with our little girls (and the girls were equally in love with them!) We did have to convince them that Gaston was really actually nice, since they weren't so sure when he wanted them to sit on his lap!

If you are over that way this summer, I would definitely recommend making a stop to see the show. If you plan it early enough, there is also a tea party with Belle earlier in the day... I'm sure the girls would have LOVED that!
