In honor of Dr. Suess' birthday, Kaylee's school had a week's worth of dress up days to celebrate reading. Friday they were supposed to dress up as their favorite book character and write a book report to read to the class. Of course with a new baby at the house, it kinda snuck up on us, so that morning Kaylee and I were in a rush to throw her outfit together. (It was my first day solo since Josh went back to work - luckily my Aunt Patty graciously offered to stay the night and help me out in the morning.)
She chose to dress up as Fancy Nancy. She wanted her outfit to be as bright and mismatched as possible. Can you tell?? :-)
Kaylee has always had a love for reading (she was memorizing sight words and reading Kindergarten Hooked on Phonics books at age 3!) but over the last few months it has really taken off. A couple days ago Daddy took her to the library and she came home with a Sweet Valley Readers chapter book. She was so excited to take it to bed that night. When she came out of her room to put her book away, she couldn't wait to come tell me all about the two girls who found a kitten but didn't want to tell their parents because their dad was allergic. The excitement on her face just warmed my heart. She got through that book in two days and was already requesting a trip back to the library. So, so proud of her!!
