On Saturday, I went on a "Girls' Getaway" to Seattle with my mom and sisters for some serious husband-free, kid-free, shopping and bonding.
The rest of the girls drove on Friday, but since Josh wasn't off until Sunday, I decided to fly Saturday afternoon (we drove back together on Monday.) Josh's brother Shem and his wife Angel were gracious enough to watch my girls until Josh got off at 8:00. Kaylee was super excited all week to play with her cousins Gavin and Taigen. When I dropped them off, both girls were all smiles and didn't even protest when I left! (Which actually made it much easier to get on the plane.) The girls had SO much fun with them! And it was nice to know that my girls were in such good hands since it's so hard for me to leave them. (Josh and I have only been away from Jadyn overnight once... and this is my first time that I've left all three of them!) Another big thank you to my brother and sister in law for taking such great care of our little girls!!
Thankfully Angel is as much of a nut as me about pictures, so I got to see all about their day together!

So I should also point out that this was Josh's first time having the girls overnight by himself. I should have known he would have pulled it off with no problems (I have to admit, he's an amazing daddy!) but I couldn't resist an occasional phone call to remind him which drawer the pajamas were in or to make sure he brushed their teeth before bed. Okay, so really I just missed them all like crazy and didn't want to miss any details!

With all the fun they had while Mommy was away, I'm a little surprised they were so happy to see me when I walked in the door. Now I know what Josh means though... there's nothing quite like coming home to the happy little squeals and adorable little grins of your two baby girls!

P.S. SEATTLE PICTURES COMING SOON!

How sweet! There is nothing better than having the kind of husband you can leave with the kids for the weekend and have absolutely no fears or doubt about his capability to take care of things. Joe has been alone with my girls many a time, and has even taken them out of town while I stayed home sick, or pre-commited to something else and unable to go w/them. People are often in shock over it, but I tell them if they were married to a guy like Joe, they wouldn't think twice about it.
Looks like they had a great time, and it is so good for kids to have quality bonding time with daddies. They just play differently than moms do. Also so good for moms to take a break that is long enough to relax, and to miss your fam more than you thought possible. Good for you. can't wait to see Seattle pics.
sorry this was absurdly long.
WAHOO SEATTLE!!! I am going to have major flashbacks of my adventure with my sisters just 6 months ago!
And ANY husband who is man enough to handle the kids by himself, is totally worthy of the wonderful wife you are! :)
It actually is a HUGE pet peeve of mine, when women out there don't make their husbands do crap with the kids. And the ones who cart their babies around to all the "girls nights" and such, when the hubby is perfectly capable of taking the child for an hour or so. I would not do well with a husband who was a big baby about watching the kids, where would the sanity be??
can of worms opened, I'll get off my soap box! :)
As for the midnight showing, I'm going with my sisters and mom to the movie, and they would SO NOT go the midnight showing (well my mom wouldn't at least) so no spoilers on your blog, or I'll have to avoid it till I see the movie!
oh, very long comment.....sorry!
Good for you getting away, Moms need time away too. And what a fun time they have with Daddy! My girls are 100% Daddies Girls. It is so nice to have that trust and know that they are in good hands. Although I do call and check in and make sure everyone is doing good, it is what we do.
