from the McCulloch kids!
We had quite the unexpected evening. The kids and I went to my mom's house in the afternoon for my niece Shaina's birthday and expected Daddy to be home not long after since they promised him an early day. We had plans of frosting sugar cookies for Santa, sprinkling reindeer food on the lawn, Christmas movies on the wall, and enjoying a nice baked ham dinner as a family.
Unfortunately, Josh ended up having to work hours later than expected due to a "customer emergency" so we had to regroup. RC Willey gave him a Chili's gift card as a thank you for staying and helping out and since there was no time to get the ham cooked in time for dinner, we figured we'd go on a drive to see Christmas lights, then hit Chili's for dinner - not thinking about the fact that they closed at 2pm on Christmas Eve! We literally spent and hour a half just driving around trying to find somewhere to eat since our tummies were grumbling. We finally found a Chinese restaurant that was open and stopped there (Chinese buffet on Christmas Eve?? Oh yes we did!)
By the time we got home there was only enough time to let the kids open their Christmas jammies before tucking them into bed (and attempting to keep them there since Jadyn fell alseep during the whole driving ordeal and once she takes a nap for the day there is no falling asleep til midnight!) Santa's plate consisted of some leftover fudge we had received that day and some carrots for the reindeer. Not exactly what I had planned, but Santa didn't seem to mind. And the girls were so excited about the next morning that they forgot all about baking cookies!
