Since Josh and I both picked out our Christmas presents early, we hadn't really planned on opening anything on Christmas day except for our stockings (and whatever treasures my mom has in store at her house! :-) ) When the girls found out that there weren't any presents under the tree for us, they were really upset and asked if I would take them to the store to pick something out. There is really only one place you can take a 5 and 3 year old where you are safe letting them pick out whatever their little hearts desire without spending way too much money on something we don't need... the dollar store!

They were so cute going through each aisle trying to decide what to buy. Kaylee asked if they could also pick something out for me, but made me promise to forget whatever it was. Jadyn chose a package of fudge-striped cookies for Daddy (it was a close call between that and a a plush hamburger doggy toy) and a foot file for me. Kaylee picked out a package opener for Daddy and a manicure set for me. And then we had a little incident where Kaylee started sobbing in the middle of the aisle because she wanted to buy me more than one thing so that I would have more presents under the tree and asked is she could pay me back with money out of her piggy bank. She is a tender heart, that one.
They were SO excited about their purchases and couldn't wait for Daddy and Tyler to go to bed so they could wrap them. All I did was cut the wrapping paper and hand them pieces of tape... the rest was up to them.

Not too bad for 3 and 5 right? The girls were so excited to put their little treasures under the tree. I'd say that was a $5 well spent! Might just have to be a new Christmas tradition.
