New Years Tree?

The Christmas-loving gene is in my blood. When I was a little girl, my mom always tried to make it special for us. We didn't grow up with a lot of money, so she would start shopping months before to make sure there was a nice pile of presents waiting for us under the tree. The size or cost of the present didn't matter - we just loved having so much to open. No matter what was going on our world, no matter what the rest of the year had put before us, I could always count on Christmas being something wonderful.

To this day, my heart gets a little giddy when those Christmas totes come down from the attic. There is something so magical about this time of year. And when it's all over - it seems so sad to pack it all away again. This year, we decided to leave the decorations up for a few days and spent the day after Christmas stocking up on new ornaments and decorations for next year. Having Christmas in our new family room was wonderful, but I missed having the tree close by. Which means next year, we will have TWO trees - our regular family tree that the kids can decorate however they please, and one that I can decorate just the way I want.

So... I did something a little crazy today. The girls and I were sitting in the living room trying to decide what to do for the day and Kaylee asked if we could put the new ornaments on the tree. I figured why not - I had to pack up all the old ornaments anyway, plus it kept the girls entertained and away from strangling eachother (for an hour or so at least!) Josh came home and thought I was nuts. I suppose decorating a Christmas tree 5 days after Christmas does seem a bit odd, but hey, I think we can pass if off for a New Years tree... dont' you? :-)

I haven't really mastered the art of Christmas tree picture taking, but here are a few of my favorite new ornament finds... can't wait to put them up for real next year!

LOVE IT! Everyone should have more than one tree. I've always wanted to do ribbon but never found one I loved. But I did have fun hunting for more decorations at the after Xmas sales.

Is your bead garland from Target? Ours is and I love it but not very easy to work with.

I've always wanted to do ribbon too! I picked up a big roll at Michaels but it wasnt' quite enough to make it all the way down the tree and when I went back, they were all gone. :-( The new tree is slimmer though so hopefully it will be enough! I saw some I liked better at a patio store but even with the 60% it was still really expensive.

The beads are from Target. And I agree - super cute but hard to work with (notice how they're falling down in a few places on the tree.) Next year I'm going use fishing wire to connect them all together and hope that helps a little. :-)
